Donate Pokemon Cards
Note: We’re currently in great need of Pokemon Cards with a waitlist of teachers who have requested them. If you have Pokemon card doubles or cards you don’t need (or know someone who does), please consider making a donation to us. It would be greatly appreciated!
If you have been asking the question, “Where can I donate Pokemon cards?” you have arrived at the right place. A good option for any Pokemon cards that you no longer need or want is to donate them to a nonprofit. This page will go over some of the benefits of donating your extra Pokemon cards to a nonprofit like Donate Cards.
How Donated Pokemon Cards are Used
Currently the vast majority of Pokemon cards we receive as donations get sent out to teachers who have requested them to benefit the students in their classrooms (if you’re a teacher and would like to receive Pokemon cards for your classroom, please fill out this form). The primary goal is to get these cards out of closets, garages, attics, and binders where they are never seen and to teachers and youth workers who can distribute them to kids who will have great fun playing with them.
The Pokemon cards are used in many creative ways by the teachers. Some use the cards as incentives for good work and other prizes. There was even one science teacher who requested Pokemon cards to help teach the concept of evolution by showing the different forms of Pokemon on cards. The teachers know that Pokemon cards can help motivate the students and can be a helpful resource for them to teach students.
On the occasions when we receive Pokemon cards that have value to collectors, we will sell the cards for cash. We then take the cash to buy new card packs to give away or bulk Pokemon cards so that we can distribute even more of the cards to teachers. This also helps to cover the costs of mailing the cards to the teachers and youth workers since we do not ask them to pay anything for receiving the cards.
With the above information on how the Pokemon cards will be used, below you can find some of the benefits of when you generously give a donation of Pokemon cards to us.
Supporting a Worthwhile Cause
If you remember how much you enjoyed Pokemon cards when you were a kid, you can imagine how kids feel when they are able to get these cards from their teachers. Many of the students are from lower-income areas and might not otherwise have an opportunity to get Pokemon cards in any other way. It gives students an opportunity to be rewarded for good work and helps them to work harder when they might not otherwise do so. But most of all, you give kids the happiness and joy of playing with Pokemon cards the way you did as a kid.
Teachers already spend a lot of their own money on classroom supplies. Making a donation of Pokemon cards is a way to help teachers get items they can use in the classroom without having to go into their own pocket to do so. Donating your Pokemon card collection is a wonderful way to give teachers prizes to motivate their students without them having to spend money on those prizes. It may not seem like a lot, but it’s a great benefit to the teachers who receive them.
An IRS Tax Deduction
As well as helping teachers and students, a donation of Pokemon cards also has a benefit for you. Donate cards is a 503(c)(3) nonprofit organization so any cards you donate are tax-deductible at their fair market value. No matter how many Pokemon cards you have, your donation of Pokemon cards will be tax-deductible saving you money. You can read more about how your cards are tax-deductible here.
