Currently the vast majority of Pokemon cards we receive as donations get sent out to teachers who have requested them to benefit the students in their classrooms (if you’re a teacher and would like to receive Pokemon cards for your classroom, please fill out this form). The primary goal is to get these cards out of closets, garages, attics, and binders where they are never seen and to teachers and youth workers who can distribute them to kids who will have great fun playing with them.
The Pokemon cards are used in many creative ways by the teachers. Some use the cards as incentives for good work and other prizes. There was even one science teacher who requested Pokemon cards to help teach the concept of evolution by showing the different forms of Pokemon on cards. The teachers know that Pokemon cards can help motivate the students and can be a helpful resource for them to teach students.
On the occasions when we receive Pokemon cards that have value to collectors, we will sell the cards for cash. We then take the cash to buy new card packs to give away or bulk Pokemon cards so that we can distribute even more of the cards to teachers. This also helps to cover the costs of mailing the cards to the teachers and youth workers since we do not ask them to pay anything for receiving the cards.

Teachers already spend a lot of their own money on classroom supplies.
